How do you make a emote?
%Emotication has a lot of useful tutorials on how to make emoticons. Try going to this page and clicking on the area in which you need the most help on (shading, animation, movements & effects, or other). If you are just starting out, you should probably try looking in the shading area at a couple tutorials; they will help you along the way.
There are loads of tutorials over at %Emotication which can explain it much better than I can here
